Overview

Florida’s housing markets held their ground in the first quarter of 2009. Although closing prices continue to experience downward pressure due to high levels of foreclosure and distressed sales, prices are stabilizing. For many of Florida’s markets, prices have remained flat through the first part of this year. Long-term trends in closing volumes continue to increase in most markets. Lee County’s housing market reflects these trends (see Figure 1).
